Residential Driveway Paving in Greater Boston

A new asphalt driveway should last two decades or more. That comes down to what happens under the pavement, and that is where we spend most of our time.

How We Approach Residential Driveway Paving

We start by removing the old surface and any soft material underneath, then rebuild with 8 to 12 inches of processed gravel, graded for drainage and compacted in lifts. Only after the base passes our own roll test do we bring in hot mix. Most residential driveways get a 3-inch compacted binder course with a 1.5-inch top course, laid hot and rolled while it still has heat in it.

Edges are where cheap driveways fail first, so we hand-tamp a 45-degree bevel along every unsupported edge and tie cleanly into your garage apron, walkways, and the street. Slopes are set to move water away from your foundation, and we can add a trench drain or catch basin where grade alone will not do the job.

Most single- and double-wide driveways are finished in one day. You can walk on it that evening and park on it in 48 to 72 hours.
